Dem Dry Bones: Shake Things Up In The Morning To Wake Up Less Creaky
I am 34.
When I wake up in the morning, I am creaky. I tend to sleep with my shoulders way up by my ears no matter how much meditation I do before sleep and I can feel them still hanging around up there when I get up to get out of bed. YaknowwhatImean?!?!
I exercise. I yoga. I eat the right stuff. I am STILL CREAKY in the morning.
In addition, I am not the type to get up and do a yoga routine asap. I am what they like to call a “slow waker upper” (my husband might have another word for this that isn’t repeatable here).
So, my morning routine lately is this:
- Wake up
- Stay in bed, don’t sit up, stay away from Facebook.
- Start moving dem bones through as much range of motion as I can while laying.
- I start at the ankles, wiggle them around a bit.. move up to the knees and so on and so forth.
Um. Wow. Can you say different morning? All I did was skip my 5 minute scrolling routine and move dem bones around a little bit and I feel like a taller, more prepared person in the morning – can it really be this easy?!?
So, if you are a jump out of bed yogi… do your thang honey! However, if you are like me.. the type of person who can’t be bothered to get out of bed first thing but you could manage to wiggle a little bit instead of reading emails….
Go shake dem skeleton bones!
